The organising team would like to take this opportunity to thank:
All the exhibitors;
Margaret Rumens and Jackie Charnock for judging the entries;
Guest Speaker Bronda Dossett;
Guest Demonstrator Jacqui Arnold.
Not forgetting all those involved behind the scenes in making The
3 Counties and South Wales Area 2025 Area Day a success.
Chris Lynch Team Leader.Tuesday 29th April Set up Day
The team gathered at the Courtyard Theatre with fellow flower club members, family and friends to help set up the areas we had access to.
The priority of the day was to set up the competition area in the Garrick Theatre ready for the 20 exhibitors at 11.30am. All hands were on deck to help unload and transfer flowers and mechanics efficiently.
Exhibitors spent the afternoon preparing their designs in the air-conditioned room – something that was most appreciated bearing mind the high temperatures outside!
As the theatre was running normally on 29th, we worked around the activity!
Sandra Snell, Chelsea gold medallist, local florist and member of Fownhope Flower club constructed a beautiful jazz themed floral display in the foyer.
She happily listened to comments from the public as she worked.

Colourful table arrangements for the dining areas were prepared by three Fownhope club members in a side room ready for the event.
Tables were laid out in the Nell Gwynne room ready for the retailers to fill in preparation for Area Day. Plants, cards, scarves, bags and jewellery were among some of the items on sale, along with NAFAS publications, Flower Arranger magazine and a table of rather expensive floral art books donated by a past member of Area.
Raffle tables and signage were prepared ready to put out on Area day.

Area Day Wednesday 30th April
The sun shone as ticket holders were welcomed at the entrance to the Courtyard Theatre in Hereford. Members of the planning team, together with smiling stewards were on hand to direct visitors to refreshments and the retail area. VIPs attended.
Mair Llewellyn and her team sold raffle tickets for both the morning and afternoon raffle prizes.

Competition Judging took place between 9.30 and 12 noon after which exhibitors and visitors were able to see how well everyone had fared. The standard was high and commented on warmly by the Judges.

Bronda Dossett, Chair of National Speakers Committee on stage who gave a wonderful interactive talk about her life in the world of dance and choreography.
Adrian Cooke, Area president gave the vote of thanks.

James Burnside presented awards to the lucky winners of the Competition.

It was lovely to have been invited, as the NAFAS President, to attend your Area Day entitled ‘All that Jazz’, which I enjoyed immensely. It was good to meet and talk with the members and to make new friends through the love of flowers and gardening.
The talk given by Bronda Dossett was very inspiring and amusing. The demonstration by Jacqui Arnold was very enjoyable and the finished stage was stunning. I did enjoy when we had to do a few dance moves!
The overall standard of the competition was excellent, the different interpretation of the class titles was inspiring, and I congratulate all those who took part and especially the prize winners. The judges Margaret and Jackie certainly had a difficult task to choose the prize winners, I didn't envy their job! The retail area was very tempting, especially the plants, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to purchase any as I was travelling by air.
Finally, I would like to congratulate Chris and her team for all the organizing before and during the event, it was very much appreciated, and for the kind hospitality offered to me during my visit.
James Burnside NAFAS President.
National Demonstrator Jacquie Arnold created lavish floral designs before our eyes ably supported by her husband John. They both treated us to a short jazz dance routine as a finale to the demonstration

Area Chair Delyth Price rounded off the event with a vote of thanks to everyone who
supported the occasion.
Lots of smiling faces appeared from the auditorium at the end of the afternoon for their journey home
